One of the most common and most noticeable symptoms of a bad or failing CV axle shaft assembly is an loud clicking noise when turning. When CV axles become excessively worn, the joints will become loose and click when turning. Other symptoms of CV Axel issues might be bumping or grinding noises when turning, or a squealing sound that increases with speed.

 

Without two operational axles, your car won't be going anywhere. If you notice a bumping, clicking or grinding noise when turning, your axle isn't broken yet, but it's only a matter of time. If your CV joint fails, this will essentially break the Axel and loss of control of your car.

 

The most common cause of CV joint problems relates to the protective CV boot.

 

They rotate at constant velocity and require constant lubrication. The CV joints are enclosed in a CV boot. The boot keeps the lubrication on the CV joints and keeps dirt and debris out of the CV joints. The CV boots can crack with age and leak the lubricant.

 

When cracks are found early by inspection, the CV boots can be replaced. If not detected early, the CV joints will fail due to lack of lubrication and require costly repairs.
